Home Programmes
Knowing what to do and how to support your child at home is an important part of therapy. We encourage parents to attend and watch therapy because then skills are ‘caught’ rather than ‘taught’. During your child’s treatment programme you will get an opportunity to observe and learn effective strategies to help your child. Implementation of these strategies will be designed to fit into your daily routines at home as well as some specific activities to be practiced through, games. This means supporting your child’s development can become real, easy and effective. Research and experience confirms that a daily opportunity to practice skills learnt in therapy significantly reduces the time in therapy and also the impact of the difficulty for your child.
We recognise that parents often feel stretched and at times weary with all that needs to be done to support their children effectively whilst running a home and working. We are passionate about making therapy goals transferable into daily life so that it is meaningful and fun, not just another piece of home-work. Our therapists will develop your skills so that you can help your child achieve their goals as quickly as possible.
We can meet you online to discuss your child’s progress, answer any questions, and support integration of therapy activities into your home context.
